Operating in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, Penske Logistics is committed to driving supply chain efficiencies and improving visibility for its customers. With a focus on customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and innovation, Penske Logistics continually strives to provide best-in-class service while fostering a workplace culture centered on growth, learning, and teamwork. The company offers a comprehensive benefits plan aimed at keeping associates and their families healthy, secure, and motivated, reflecting a genuine commitment to employee well-being and development.

The Operations Supervisor role at Penske Logistics is a pivotal leadership position based at the Aurora, Illinois location, focused on supervising transportation and logistics operations with a strong emphasis on customer service, productivity, and safety. This full-time position operates primarily Monday to Friday with a 12 p.m. start time, although hours may vary depending on business demands. Salary for the role ranges from $54,900 to $72,700 annually and includes eligibility for a performance-based bonus up to 12% of the base salary. This role is ideal for a dynamic, energetic leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about coaching and motivating teams to achieve both company and customer goals.

In this role, the Operations Supervisor provides hands-on management and direction to a group of drivers and hourly associates, ensuring efficient execution of daily operational tasks such as driver deliveries, trailer loading and unloading, and maintaining high standards of customer service. The supervisor is responsible for overseeing most operational processes directly, including managing people, systems, equipment, and workforce scheduling. This also involves performance management and employee development through coaching, counseling, and disciplinary measures up to written warning level. The Operations Supervisor participates in hiring processes, facilitates team meetings, and engages in customer interactions when necessary to ensure satisfaction and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining training programs that enhance staff competency and align work efforts with customer business objectives. The supervisor sets clear, measurable performance standards and monitors attendance, productivity, and overall performance, providing constructive feedback and fostering an engaged, motivated workforce. Operational duties extend to supervising logistics processes such as freight handling, dispatch, and compliance with documentation procedures. This includes working knowledge and compliance with site operating systems to resolve exceptions promptly and maintain workflow efficiency.

Financially, the Operations Supervisor manages budget-related activities by ensuring accurate tracking of metrics like miles per gallon (MPG), returns, and damages, while also overseeing labor costs to minimize overtime and maximize productivity. Safety is a crucial focus, with responsibilities spanning daily management aligned with the site's safety strategy, delivering relevant training and feedback to staff, and ensuring strict adherence to regulatory and company policies through safety observations and corrective actions.

Moreover, the role involves understanding and exceeding customer expectations by actively contributing to a positive customer experience and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. The supervisor also manages fleet and equipment use by planning work assignments effectively, ensuring safe and efficient equipment operation, coordinating maintenance with vendors and Penske Truck Leasing, and undertaking additional projects as assigned.

This position requires an individual with demonstrated leadership qualities, strong interpersonal and communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and a commitment to operational excellence. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a bachelor’s degree preferred. Regular, predictable attendance and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment are essential. The role may require occasional travel and mandates passing a background check and drug screening. Physical demands include the ability to perform activities such as standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 25 pounds, and using fine motor skills critical to daily operational tasks.
