The role of Operations Supervisor - Cold Food Production is vital to the successful execution of daily operations within this busy airline catering setting. This onsite position based in Austin, USA, comes with a competitive salary range of $55,000 to $69,000 annually. The Operations Supervisor is entrusted with overseeing the preparation, assembly, and quality control of all cold food items, managing a frontline team of approximately 25-30 employees. This leadership role requires the candidate to ensure efficient workflows, meet strict production deadlines, maintain rigorous safety and sanitation standards, and support overall operational excellence. The supervisor will foster a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement, ensuring that every food item meets the client specifications and regulatory compliance.

The work schedule demands flexibility and commitment to a 24/7 operational environment, involving early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs. In addition to managing daily operations, this role involves organizing and scheduling staff shifts to optimize labor productivity, conducting regular team meetings, monitoring safety compliance with agencies such as FDA, USDA, OSHA, EPA, and HACCP, and implementing process improvements. Leadership responsibilities include motivating and developing employees within Human Resources policies, managing costs and productivity, and supporting company initiatives focused on quality, safety, and efficiency.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge
  • 2+ years supervisory experience in high volume food production, catering or manufacturing environment or large kitchen experience
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA, GMP, FDA, USDA and EPA regulations
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge
  • 2+ years supervisory experience in high volume food production, catering or manufacturing environment or large kitchen experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Strong leadership experience with ability to lead a team of 20+ union, hourly workers per shift
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and lead others to obtain desired results and achieve productivity goals
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), FDA, USDA and EPA regulations
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications

Job Duties

  • Supervise daily operations to ensure timely and accurate production and flight catering
  • Organize, schedule, and oversee shift staff to meet labor productivity targets and minimize overtime
  • Conduct daily team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and safety reminders
  • Monitor safety performance and proactively address issues to maintain a safe work environment
  • Identify, document, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
  • Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and directed and that all delivery times are met timely
  • Ensure compliance with all government regulatory agencies standards such as FDA, USDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, HACCP
  • Document and follow up on all department processes to implement improvements
  • Other duties as deemed necessary
  • Guide, motivate and develop staff within the Human Resources policies
  • Make the company's values and management principles live in the department(s)
  • Manage productivity hours and costs in the area of responsibility
  • Initiate and steer corrective actions in case of deviations
  • Participate and support company sponsored initiatives such as Quality, HACCP, Lean Manufacturing, Employee Safety and Production
