The role of Operations Supervisor - Cold Food Production is a vital leadership position within LSG Sky Chefs’ high-volume airline catering operation. This on-site full-time position offers a salary range of $55,000.00 to $69,000.00 annually and demands flexibility, as work schedules include five consecutive days followed by two days off with varied shifts possibly during early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays since the business operates 24/7 throughout the year. The Operations Supervisor will take charge of supervising the preparation, assembly, and quality control of all cold food products, overseeing a frontline team of approximately 25 to 30 employees. The supervisor will be responsible for ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to production timelines while upholding stringent safety and sanitation standards.
The position requires maintaining compliance with numerous regulatory safety and quality guidelines—including those set by the FDA, USDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, and HACCP—to ensure the highest standards of food safety and operational excellence. The supervisor plays an influential role in promoting an environment focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and exceptional service standards. Leadership responsibilities include motivating staff, managing labor productivity, controlling costs, coordinating staff schedules, and spearheading process improvements. This position also involves active participation in corporate initiatives such as Quality Assurance, Lean Manufacturing, Employee Safety, and Production efficiency. The Operations Supervisor will need strong communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office and related systems, and the ability to lead a diverse team effectively. Bilingual English and Spanish skills are highly preferred, enhancing communication in a multicultural workforce. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge
- minimum 2 years supervisory experience in food production or related environment
- bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred
- ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
- strong leadership capabilities managing large teams
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- working knowledge of relevant safety and regulatory standards
- proficiency with Microsoft Office software
- ability to multitask and organize effectively
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge
- 2+ years supervisory experience in high volume food production, catering or manufacturing environment or large kitchen experience
- bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- experience working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
- strong leadership experience with the ability to lead a team of 20+ union, hourly workers per shift
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- ability to develop and lead others to achieve productivity goals
- working knowledge of OSHA, GMP, FDA, USDA and EPA regulations
- excellent verbal, written and organizational skills
- proficient with Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications
Job Duties
- Supervise daily operations to ensure timely and accurate production and flight catering
- organize, schedule, and oversee shift staff to meet labor productivity targets and minimize overtime
- conduct daily team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and safety reminders
- monitor safety performance and proactively address issues to maintain a safe work environment
- identify, document, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
- ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and directed and that all delivery times are met timely
- ensure compliance with all government regulatory agencies standards such as FDA, USDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, HACCP
- document and follow up on all department processes to implement improvements
- perform other duties as deemed necessary
- guide, motivate and develop staff within the human resources policies
- make the company's values and management principles live in the department
- manage productivity hours and costs in the area of responsibility
- initiate and steer corrective actions in case of deviations
- participate and support company sponsored initiatives such as quality, HACCP, lean manufacturing, employee safety and production
