Job Description
Penske Logistics is a globally recognized leader in transportation and logistics solutions, dedicated to providing state-of-the-art freight management, warehousing, and transportation services. With operations spanning North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, Penske Logistics is committed to helping businesses optimize their supply chains, enhance visibility, and reduce costs through innovative and efficient logistics strategies. The company prides itself on fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement to meet the evolving needs of its diverse customer base. Penske Logistics is known for its forward-thinking approach and dedication to delivering superior service and operational performance.
The Operations Manager role at Penske Logistics is a critical leadership position designed to manage and direct daily activities at one of their operational locations in Fontana, California. The successful candidate will lead a team of supervisors and associates, focusing on achieving customer requirements while aligning with the overarching goals and objectives of Penske. This role requires a dynamic, energetic, and team-oriented leader who values commitment to customers, excellence, and innovation. The manager will be responsible for driving operational performance, managing financial resources, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. This position offers a competitive salary range of $83,600 to $112,800 annually, complemented by a performance bonus of up to 30 percent, reflecting the company’s recognition of high performance and leadership excellence.
The Operations Manager will oversee recruiting, training, developing, and retaining quality associates to ensure the workforce is competent and motivated. Effective communication and strong relationships with customers, team members, and supporting departments are essential to success in this role. The manager will ensure the operation meets or exceeds customer key performance metrics by identifying opportunities for improvements such as route optimization, carrier selection, and asset utilization. Collaboration with other Penske sites to share best practices and leverage resources is also expected.
Financial stewardship is another major aspect of the role, including developing and executing annual financial plans, managing billing and payroll accuracy, and maintaining the integrity of the Profit & Loss statement. Safety leadership is paramount, requiring the manager to lead by example in maintaining an incident-free safety culture, proactively addressing unsafe conditions, and ensuring compliance with all regulations and company policies. The manager will also engage in growth-oriented activities such as identifying profitable business opportunities and tracking value delivered to customers.
This full-time, first-shift position operates Monday through Friday with some flexibility based on business needs. Penske offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, happiness, and financial security of its employees and their families. Candidates must be prepared to demonstrate strong leadership, decision-making capabilities, and the ability to work efficiently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The position also requires occasional travel and adherence to Penske's employment application, background checks, and drug screening procedures.
Penske Logistics represents an ideal career opportunity for an experienced operations leader seeking to contribute to a high-performance team within a respected global company. It offers the chance to make a significant impact by improving operational efficiencies, driving customer satisfaction, and cultivating a safe and productive workplace environment.
