This particular opening is for an Operations Manager at The Gallivant Times Square, an independent hotel located in the bustling Midtown West of Manhattan, New York City. The Gallivant Times Square, originally completed in 1928 as the Hotel President and designed by Hyman Isaac Feldman, now offers guests a unique experience reflecting the spirit of discovery amidst one of the best Midtown West Manhattan neighborhoods. The surrounding Midtown West area includes the trendy Chelsea district, Hell’s Kitchen known for its diverse culinary scene, Little Brazil famous for its vibrant cultural celebrations, and the Garment District, a hub for fashion and designer shops.
The Operations Manager role is integral to the smooth and efficient running of The Gallivant Times Square. This position is responsible for planning, directing, and improving front office and related operations to enhance productivity and guest satisfaction. Responsibilities span supporting various hotel departments including Front Office, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, and Engineering, ensuring the hotel meets Paramount standards in cleanliness, security, and overall guest experience. Job Requirements
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field
- Or a 2-year college degree and minimum 3 years of progressive experience
- Or a 4-year degree and minimum 1 year of progressive experience
- Previous supervisory responsibilities
- Proficient in Windows, company-approved spreadsheets, and word processing
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
- Ability to handle problems including anticipating, preventing, and identifying solutions
- Must maintain confidentiality
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with company standards
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
- Comply with company standards and regulations
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Assist the Director and Assistant Director of Front Office with managing the Front Office operation
- Provide support to other hotel departments including Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, and Engineering
- Provide strong lobby presence to assist front desk agents and guests
- Provide all aspects of shift coverage in Food & Beverage operations as needed
- Balance the hotel room type inventory
- Ensure all lobby, Mezzanine, and Food & Beverage areas meet Paramount standards including cleanliness and signage
- Monitor and action Nor 1 upsell program
- Handle guest special requests and customer complaints during the shift
- Perform all front desk duties
- Investigate and manage complaints, disturbances, and emergencies during the shift
- Manage employee payroll, track attendance, conduct call-arounds for overtime
- Coach, train, counsel hourly associates and administer discipline
- Perform Night Audit functions and produce reports
- Prepare and distribute reports as required
- Attend meetings to promote morale, productivity, and efficient operations
- Participate in Management On Duty coverage as required
