Job Description
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is a premier theme park located in Vallejo, California, known for its thrilling rides, engaging attractions, and dynamic special events. As part of the larger Six Flags brand, the park offers an array of entertainment options, from adrenaline-pumping roller coasters to interactive animal exhibits. The park also maintains its commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences through well-organized festivals and special events that attract visitors year-round. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Concord, located nearby, complements the experience as a water park that offers fun and excitement especially during the warmer months. Both parks are part of a respected network of entertainment venues that aim to bring joy to millions while emphasizing safety, quality, and guest satisfaction.
The role of Operations Coordinator at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is a critical position responsible for the meticulous planning and execution of all festivals and special events at the park and, when necessary, at Hurricane Harbor Concord. This role requires a dynamic and highly organized individual who can collaborate effectively with park teams and corporate stakeholders to realize the scope and vision for every event. The Operations Coordinator will manage the complete lifecycle of events—from conceptualization and timeline development to budgeting and post-event analysis—ensuring each festival and special event not only meets but exceeds guest expectations.
The successful candidate will have a hands-on role in coordinating with purchasing teams to secure necessary supplies and oversee their timely arrival for events. Moreover, they will coordinate with talent to book entertainment that aligns with the theme and enhances the overall guest experience. Budget management is a vital responsibility, requiring the Operations Coordinator to maintain fiscal responsibility while delivering exceptional event quality.
Beyond the preparatory phases, the coordinator will ensure the timely setup and quality assurance of event elements before guests arrive. They will support on-site operations throughout the event to maintain standards and troubleshoot any issues that may arise. Post-event duties involve coordinating the removal of event elements efficiently to prepare the park for its next phase and facilitating recaps with key stakeholders to gather insights and lessons learned, fostering continuous improvement.
This position demands flexibility including the ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts to meet the operational needs of the parks. Strong organizational skills, effective communication, and a committed focus on the guest experience are essential. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word as well as multiple web-based programs is required to manage the planning and documentation tasks. Candidates must also possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the physical and mental capacity to perform the required duties.
Overall, the Operations Coordinator serves as a central figure in bringing the magic of Six Flags special events to life, ensuring that every detail contributes to memorable and engaging experiences for all park visitors. This role offers the opportunity to work in a vibrant, fast-paced environment where the ability to multitask, problem-solve and take initiative are highly valued.
