Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Current licensure or certification in the relevant state such as EMT-Paramedic
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Fulfill state IV therapy requirements
  • Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Minimum of two years clinical or hospital experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned such as EMT-Paramedic
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in the state of licensure
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis
  • Evaluate donor reactions at the facility and follow standard operating procedures for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician’s standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance concerning unacceptable findings or medical and technical issues including donor safety and eligibility
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable
  • Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by occupational health or emergency room
  • Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support pandemic threat investigations within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs
