Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Current licensure or certification in the relevant state such as EMT-Paramedic
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state IV therapy requirements
- Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Minimum of two years clinical or hospital experience
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned such as EMT-Paramedic
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in the state of licensure
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis
- Evaluate donor reactions at the facility and follow standard operating procedures for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician’s standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance concerning unacceptable findings or medical and technical issues including donor safety and eligibility
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable
- Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by occupational health or emergency room
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support pandemic threat investigations within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs
