Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate effectively using positive language and attentive to guests needs
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail while multi-tasking
  • Willingness to educate guests and engage around products and services
  • Ability to operate handheld scanners, multiple frequency devices, and other technology equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to handle cash register operations and cash transactions accurately
  • Ability to lift and move merchandise up to 44 pounds, including frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds
  • Flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Reliable and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work as an on-demand team member with active engagement picking up shifts every 4 weeks
  • Ability to respond to contact attempts promptly to confirm interest in working shifts
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift

Job Qualifications

  • Previous retail or customer service experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent guest service
  • Experience using point-of-sale systems and technology
  • Ability to handle fast-paced, dynamic work environments
  • Basic understanding of safety and compliance standards

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard
  • Create a welcoming experience by authentically greeting all guests
  • Observe to quickly understand whether a guest needs assistance or wants to interact
  • Engage with guests in a genuine way by asking questions to understand their specific needs
  • Be knowledgeable about tools, products, and services to solve guest issues and improve their experience
  • Thank guests genuinely and let them know appreciation for choosing Target
  • Scan and bag guest items efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with safety standards
  • Work efficiently to minimize guest wait time while maintaining service and accuracy
  • Promote current and upcoming brand launches, store events, and benefits
  • Assist guests with Target Loyalty programs, fulfillment services, and Target App features
  • Attempt every return and follow register prompts, partnering with leaders to solve issues
  • Partner with leaders to de-escalate negative situations and recover guest experience
  • Deliver easy, accurate service to Order Pick Up, Drive Up, and Registry guests
  • Maintain a clean and clutter-free work area, including gathering abandoned items and stocking supplies
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
  • Work in a safe manner, identify and correct hazards, comply with safety policies
  • Support guest services such as Order Pick Up, Drive Up, and Returns and maintain compliance with laws
  • Support Cash Office processes, including management of cash systems
  • Perform other duties based on business needs
