Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous retail or customer service experience preferred
  • ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times
  • reliable and prompt attendance when scheduled
  • ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
  • ability to handle cash and operate point-of-sale systems accurately
  • able to follow company policies and procedures
  • must be able to lift or move merchandise up to 44 pounds
  • must be capable of working in physically demanding environments
  • must actively engage by picking up shifts at least once every 4 weeks
  • must respond promptly to communication from leadership
  • commitment to ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
  • willingness to participate in scheduled training and orientation sessions

Job Qualifications

  • Communicating effectively including using positive language and being attentive to guests needs
  • capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
  • welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and other team members
  • ability to educate guests and engage around products and services
  • ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed
  • ability to work both independently and with a team
  • accurately handle cash register operations and cash transactions
  • willingness to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times
  • ability to scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely within weight guidelines
  • adaptable to working in varying environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity
  • capable of remaining mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard
  • create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks
  • engage with guests in a welcoming way to help solve their specific needs
  • be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available to solve issues and improve guest experience
  • thank guests and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target
  • scan and bag all guest items efficiently, accurately and in compliance with food safety standards and company best practices
  • work efficiently to minimize guest wait time while maintaining guest service and accuracy
  • make the guest aware of current and upcoming brand launches, store activities and events
  • know and speak to the benefits of Target Loyalty programs and assist with application or sign-up as needed
  • support guest services such as order pick up, drive up, and registry
  • maintain a clean, clutter free work area
  • stock supplies during store open hours while being available for the guest
  • deliver easy and accurate service at checklanes and guest service areas
  • support cash office processes including management of cash systems
  • comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training
  • support compliance with federal, state, and local laws for certain services such as adult beverage sales
  • partner with leaders as needed to resolve guest concerns and de-escalate situations
  • perform all duties based on business needs
