In this role, team members act as advocates of guest experience, delivering welcome and thank you messages, assisting with checklane operations, guest services, gift registry, online order pick-up, and Drive Up. The Guest Advocate position focuses on building positive guest interactions through effective communication and problem solving to enhance the overall shopping experience. Responsibilities include greeting guests, scanning and bagging items efficiently while adhering to safety standards, assisting with loyalty programs, guiding guests through digital service options, handling returns according to company policies, and maintaining store cleanliness and safety.
The position demands reliability in attendance, especially when shifts are chosen via the scheduling app, requiring active weekly engagement. Team members must be proactive in responding to shift offers and maintaining open communication with leadership to avoid termination due to inactivity. Physical stamina and an ability to work in fast-paced, sometimes physically demanding situations are essential, as team members will regularly lift merchandise and navigate varying store conditions.

Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- reliable and prompt attendance, especially when picking up shifts
- ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- capable of lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds occasionally
- ability to stand and remain mobile for entire scheduled shifts
- responsive to communication attempts from management
- willingness to work at least one shift every four weeks
- compliance with safety and company policies
- ability to work in varying temperature and environmental conditions
- legal authorization to work in the United States
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous retail or customer service experience is a plus
- effective communication skills with positive language and guest focus
- ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment
- helpful and welcoming attitude toward guests and team members
- attention to detail while managing multiple tasks
- ability to educate guests on products and services
- proficient in using communication devices, handheld scanners, and technology equipment

Job Duties
- Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard
- create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you perform daily tasks
- engage with guests in a welcoming way to help solve their specific needs
- be knowledgeable about tools, products, and services available in the store to improve the guest experience
- thank guests and express appreciation for shopping at Target
- scan and bag guest items efficiently and accurately while complying with safety standards
- work efficiently to minimize guest wait time while maintaining service and accuracy
- inform guests about current and upcoming brand launches, store events, and loyalty programs
- assist guests with enrollment and use of Target's digital services, including the Target App
- manage returns and follow register prompts according to company policies
- partner with leaders to de-escalate situations and recover guest experiences
- deliver service to order pick-up, Drive Up, and Registry guests
- maintain a clean, clutter-free work area
- stock supplies during store hours while remaining available to guests
- follow safety policies and report hazards
- support cash office processes including managing cash systems
- perform other duties as needed based on business requirements
