The On-Demand Team Member (TM) role at Target is a unique and flexible employment opportunity suited for individuals seeking a personalized work schedule. This position allows team members to choose their own shifts by selecting from available openings posted in the myTime mobile app. This flexibility caters especially to those who need variations in their work hours and prefer working part-time or intermittently. As an On-Demand TM, the employee is not scheduled on a fixed weekly roster but instead actively manages their schedule to align with their availability and store needs. Despite this flexibility, consistent attendance and communication regarding shift pickups are essential for continued employment. The On-Demand TM role requires attendance at a Target Welcome orientation and completion of a structured short-term training to ensure preparedness for daily responsibilities.

The primary focus of the On-Demand Team Member is to provide outstanding guest service and support multiple facets of store operations. A key part of the role is working as a Guest Advocate, where the team member engages warmly with customers, exceeding guest service expectations by assisting with product inquiries, loyalty programs, and checklane services. Responsibilities also include handling returns, assisting with order pickup and drive-up services, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced and physically active role, demonstrates strong communication skills, and thrives on problem-solving and teamwork. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
  • ability to stand or remain mobile throughout the scheduled shift
  • capable of lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds
  • reliable and prompt attendance
  • ability to respond to contact attempts and actively pick up shifts
  • willingness to undergo training and onboarding
  • compliance with all company policies
  • must work at least one shift within 5 months to maintain employment
  • flexibility to work varying shift hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • capable of working in varied temperature and weather conditions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior retail or customer service experience is a plus
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • proficiency with technology including using handheld scanners and mobile apps
  • capable of multi-tasking and maintaining attention to detail
  • positive attitude and willingness to engage with guests

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard
  • create a welcoming experience by greeting guests during daily tasks

  • scan and bag all guest items efficiently, accurately and in compliance with food safety standards

  • handle returns and de-escalate situations following company policies
  • deliver service to order pickup, drive-up, and registry guests
  • maintain a clean and clutter-free work area
  • stock supplies while being available for guests
  • work safely and comply with all safety policies
  • support cash office processes as needed
  • perform other duties based on business needs
