Job Requirements
- Accurately handle cash register operations and cash transactions
- support cash office operations as needed
- scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely including frequently lifting up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 44 pounds without assistance
- flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays with reliable and prompt attendance
- actively engage by picking up and working shifts via the myTime mobile app every 4 weeks and respond to communication attempts from Target
- work at least one shift within 6 months to maintain employment (effective December 2024, one shift within 5 months required)
- capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures and environmental conditions
- ability to remain mobile for the duration of scheduled shift
- complete required orientation and training sessions
- adhere to safety and compliance standards at all times.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- prior retail or customer service experience beneficial
- effective communication skills including positive language and attentiveness to guest needs
- capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment
- welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
- attention to detail while multitasking
- willingness to educate guests and engage around products and services
- ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment
- ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- knowledge of basic cash register operations is a plus.
Job Duties
- Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard
- create a welcoming experience by authentically greeting all guests
- observe to quickly understand whether a guest needs assistance or wants to interact, follow body language and verbal clues to tailor your approach
- engage with guests in a genuine way, including asking questions to better understand their specific needs
- be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the store and specific to your area to solve issues and improve guest experience
- scan and bag all guest items efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with food safety standards and company best practices
- support guest services such as order pick up, drive-up orders, and registry guests by delivering easy and accurate service
- maintain a clean, clutter-free work area and stock supplies during store open hours while being available for guests
- support cash office processes as needed including management of cash systems
- partner with leaders to de-escalate negative situations and recover the guest shopping experience as per Target policies
- promote Target loyalty programs with every guest and assist with application or sign-up as needed
- work efficiently to minimize guest wait time while maintaining guest service and accuracy
- attempt every return by following register prompts and partner with leaders to solve for the guest while following company policies and procedures
- demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
- work safely at all times to benefit yourself and others by identifying and correcting hazards and complying with safety policies and best practices
- perform additional duties based on business needs.
