Job Description
Liberty University is a distinguished Christian higher education institution located in Lynchburg, Virginia. Known for its commitment to providing quality education grounded in Christian principles, Liberty University serves a diverse student body through multiple academic programs and campus activities. The university fosters an environment where community values, spiritual growth, and academic excellence are emphasized. Liberty is recognized not only for its academic offerings but also for its vibrant campus life, which includes a strong focus on student engagement and support services.
The role being described is a part-time, support position within Liberty University's On-Campus Recruitment Events team. This position plays a vital role in coordinating and executing recruitment events such as College For A Weekend (CFAW), ExperienceLU, DecideLU, and other campus recruitment activities that introduce prospective students to the university experience. Reporting in-office from the Lynchburg campus, the role is designed for current Liberty University residential undergraduate or graduate students, who are eager to engage in event planning, provide excellent hospitality, and assist in producing high-impact recruitment experiences. This position requires a commitment to work from May 1st through mid-August, covering weekends and special event days.
As an Event Support Specialist, you will support a wide range of tasks essential to the smooth execution of recruitment events. Responsibilities include managing email communications related to events, handling inventory, supporting scheduling and supervision for Christian/Community Service and Engagement roles, participating in pre-event logistics planning, and assisting on the day of event operations. Additionally, the role involves some auditing activities, such as website auditing and volunteer hour tracking for CSER (Christian Service and Engagement Recognition) programs. The position also extends to supporting the Event Coordinator team and undertaking special projects assigned by the Director of Event & Guest Operations.
Working in this role provides an excellent opportunity to professionally represent Liberty University as a positive first impression or 'handshake' for prospective students and their families. It involves interaction with various university departments to ensure all event-related needs are met and contributes to organizing on-campus experiences designed to showcase the academic and community life at Liberty University. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a Christ-like, outgoing personality to effectively embody the university’s values and mission during recruitment events.
Ideal candidates for this position will have familiarity with academic programs and campus life and possess proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. The role demands a positive driving record and the ability to operate university vehicles for event logistics. This position emphasizes teamwork, enthusiasm for engaging prospective students, and flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and in various settings across campus. Liberty University holds an equal employment opportunity policy ensuring nondiscriminatory practices throughout recruitment and employment, emphasizing compliance with federal and state laws. As a Christian religious-affiliated institution, Liberty University maintains its right to employ individuals who align with its religious values.
