This position within the Facilities Services Department offers hourly-intermittent temporary work primarily scheduled on weekends to support campus events with flexible hours that may vary according to operational needs. Reporting to the Custodial Supervisor and Lead Custodian, the Custodian is vital in maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment across all campus facilities. Responsibilities encompass cleaning classrooms, offices, laboratories, restrooms, cafeterias, athletic and common areas, ensuring readiness for student use each day. The role involves routine custodial duties such as disinfecting restrooms, emptying waste and recycling bins, dusting, floor maintenance including vacuuming and mopping, polishing furniture, and minor maintenance tasks like equipment repairs and furniture adjustments. Custodians also handle set-up and breakdown of furniture and special event equipment, assist with event requirements, and safeguard campus buildings through lock and unlock duties. The role requires effective communication using two-way radios during shifts and responding to emergency clean-up needs as they arise. This position offers a competitive pay rate of $21.62 per hour at step 5, within a range of $19.97 to $27.42 per hour, with future increases subject to contract negotiations.
