Committed to diversity and inclusion, Stanislaus State fosters a welcoming environment where all community members feel safe and valued. Offering 43 undergraduate majors, 16 master’s programs, 7 post-graduate credentials, and a doctorate in education, Stanislaus State educates over 10,000 students. Its campuses feature new instructional facilities tailored for professional programs, laboratory sciences, and performing arts. It is also recognized as a Hispanic-Serving Institution by the U.S. Department of Education.
The Facilities Services department at CSU Stanislaus is looking to expand its team through a pool of individuals interested in hourly intermittent temporary custodian positions. These positions primarily support weekend events but also accommodate varied schedules according to operational requirements. Appointments are temporary and extend through June 30, 2026, with potential for reappointment contingent upon budget availability, operational needs, and employee performance. Custodians play a critical role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming campus environment that supports the university’s academic mission.
Under the general supervision of the Custodial Supervisor and direct oversight from the Lead Custodian, the incumbent is entrusted with maintaining all campus facilities in sanitary and safe condition. Duties encompass the care and cleaning of classrooms, offices, laboratories, restrooms, cafeterias, common areas like lobbies and hallways, and athletic facilities. Responsibilities also include performing minor maintenance on custodial equipment, moving and rearranging furniture, and supporting special events with full custodial services. This role requires diligent attention to cleanliness standards, operational readiness of student-populated areas, and custodial emergency responsiveness.
The anticipated salary for this role is $21.62 per hour (step 5) with future step increases possible subject to contract negotiations. The full custodial salary range spans from $19.97 to $27.42 per hour. Candidates will benefit from being part of a diverse, service-oriented team committed to delivering excellent facility services that directly impact the student experience and campus operations. Because the position entails working various schedules, including weekends, evenings, and graveyard shifts, flexibility and reliability are crucial attributes for success. Additionally, custodians must have the physical ability to perform tasks like lifting items up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, and using custodial equipment safely and effectively.
In joining CSU Stanislaus Facilities Services, employees contribute to one of the region’s most respected educational institutions, ensuring that the physical environment remains conducive to high-quality education and community engagement. This role embodies the critical support function that enables the university to maintain its standards of excellence and overall campus quality.
