Job Description
Hotel Emma is a renowned luxury hotel located in the heart of San Antonio, Texas. Known for its unique blend of historic charm and modern elegance, Hotel Emma offers an exceptional hospitality experience to guests from around the world. The hotel features meticulously designed rooms, exquisite dining options, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that reflects the spirit of the city. At Hotel Emma, the commitment to outstanding service and quality standards is evident in every aspect of the guest experience, from accommodations to culinary offerings. The hotel’s culinary team is dedicated to delivering innovative and delicious menus crafted from fresh, locally sourced ingredients, ensuring a memorable dining experience for all patrons.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook to join our vibrant culinary team at Hotel Emma. This position is instrumental in maintaining the high standards of food preparation and presentation that our guests expect. The Line Cook will be responsible for setting up their own station according to the executive chef’s specifications and recipes, ensuring that all food preparation tasks are completed with precision and efficiency. This role requires the individual to manage banquet production and organization independently, demonstrating the ability to expedite banquets with little or no supervision.
Daily responsibilities include cooking and preparing food orders efficiently, properly storing mise en place, and submitting production needs for the following day by the end of the shift. The Line Cook must be adaptable, able to work all line stations as needed, and perform closing shift duties including late-night responsibilities as scheduled. They will also play a crucial role in developing and training line staff, including interns and externs, to meet performance standards. Ensuring safe, clean, and healthy work conditions is a top priority for this role, along with communicating effectively with the sous chef to guarantee smooth service operations during assigned shifts.
The ideal candidate will present themselves professionally, adhere to all Hotel Emma policies, and maintain the highest levels of kitchen cleanliness and organization. They will coordinate the line crew to accomplish tasks in alignment with Hotel Emma's kitchen standards and report any mechanical issues or guest feedback promptly to the chef or sous chef. Additional duties include assisting in the daily inventory of produce coolers and dry storage areas, complying with the hotel's fire, safety, and health procedures, and applying knowledge of food safety and health inspection criteria.
The Line Cook will also assist in producing family staff meals and demonstrate economic use of labor and products, ensuring disposal of food only with chef approval. Maintaining quality control of line station mise en place daily and completing assigned tasks and projects as business volumes and staffing levels demand are essential components of this position. This role offers an opportunity to be part of a prestigious hotel that values culinary excellence, team collaboration, and professional growth in a dynamic and culturally rich setting.
