We are currently seeking reliable and adaptable On-Call Food Service Employees to support our food service operations at a New York location. This part-time, onsite role offers flexibility for professionals who thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy performing a variety of tasks. The position involves stepping into various roles, including cook, prep cook, server, utility worker, and dishwasher, depending on the operational needs of each shift. Assignments may change frequently, providing a diverse and engaging work experience. The hourly pay ranges from $22 to $25, reflecting the importance of culinary skill and customer service in maintaining high-quality food service.

As an On-Call Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to established recipes and food safety standards, assisting with ingredient preparation, maintaining clean workstations, and ensuring a smooth flow of service. In addition to cooking duties, you might be involved in serving food courteously to customers, assisting with special requests, and maintaining cleanliness in dining areas. Dishwashing and utility duties also form part of the role, including washing utensils and cookware, keeping kitchen areas sanitary, and managing trash removal and supply restocking. This flexible role requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to multitask in fast-paced environments, and a commitment to safety and sanitation protocols.

Job Requirements

  • At least one year prior culinary experience in a quality and high-volume establishment
  • Working knowledge of culinary methods, techniques, and standards
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to use kitchen equipment and tools
  • Customer service experience

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year of prior culinary experience in a quality and high-volume establishment with emphasis on scratch cooking
  • Working knowledge of proper culinary methods, techniques, and standards
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to use various kitchen equipment and tools as well as identify and differentiate food items
  • Customer service experience
  • Food handlers certification (preferred)

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook food items according to recipes and food safety standards
  • Assist with prep work such as chopping, portioning, and assembling ingredients
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations
  • Serve food in a courteous and professional manner
  • Assist customers with questions and accommodate special requests when possible
  • Maintain cleanliness of serving areas and dining spaces
  • Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and equipment
  • Keep kitchen and back-of-house areas clean and sanitary
  • Assist with trash removal and restocking supplies
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety guidelines
  • Assist team members as needed during busy periods
  • Set up and break down workstations and service areas
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on operational needs
