Job Description
The American Cancer Society (ACS) is a nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. With a powerful combination of volunteers and employees, numbering over 1.3 million strong across the United States, ACS is committed to creating a world free of cancer by funding research, providing information and support to patients and caregivers, and advocating for public policies that promote cancer prevention and early detection. ACS is deeply rooted in a culture that values diversity and inclusion, understanding that a diverse workforce brings a variety of perspectives and talents essential to addressing the breadth of challenges posed by cancer. Their team members come from all walks of life and work together to advance their lifesaving mission every day. The organization fosters an environment where employees can find fulfillment in contributing to a cause larger than themselves, with a shared commitment to improving lives and communities.
The role of Concierge at the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge facility in Honolulu, HI, is an integral frontline position designed to provide guests with exceptional service and hospitality. This part-time position typically requires working less than 20 hours per week and does not include benefits eligibility. The Concierge operates as the first point of contact for guests, ensuring that everyone who visits or stays at Hope Lodge feels welcomed, safe, and supported throughout their stay. Key responsibilities include managing front desk operations such as greeting guests, facilitating check-in and check-out procedures, and providing information about the lodge amenities and local community resources. The Concierge also coordinates transportation and EMPOWER Program service schedules, responds promptly to guest inquiries, requests, concerns, and emergencies, and maintains an organized and secure front desk environment.
In addition to hospitality duties, the Concierge maintains accurate guest records, monitors lobby security, and implements safety protocols to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors. This role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office and multi-line phone systems, and the ability to multitask and work independently. The work schedule may include evenings and weekends, reflecting the needs of the operation. Physical stamina is also important, as the role may involve extended periods of standing and walking, occasional lifting and moving of luggage or packages, and managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
ACS supports its employees with a generous paid time off policy, comprehensive medical and dental insurance, retirement benefits, wellness programs, and professional development opportunities. The organization is committed to equal opportunity employment and invites those passionate about making a difference in the fight against cancer to join their dedicated team. The pay rate for this Concierge position is $18.59 per hour, reflecting the importance of this role in supporting the overall mission of the American Cancer Society.
