Job Description

The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. With a mission focused on saving lives and improving quality of life for cancer patients and their families, the organization supports research, education, advocacy, and patient services to fight cancer in all its forms. The American Cancer Society employs over thousands nationally and is driven by the contributions of 1.3 million volunteers who bring diverse backgrounds and experience to serve various communities in need. It is known for fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and mission-driven culture where staff are empowered to make meaningful contributions to the fight against cancer.

The role of Concierge at the American Cancer Society plays a critical part in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for guests at their facilities. This position serves as the first point of contact, managing front desk operations efficiently and with a high degree of professionalism and care. The Concierge is responsible for greeting visitors, managing guest check-in and check-out, responding to inquiries, and coordinating transportation and security protocols, which directly impacts the overall guest experience. This role offers a part-time or full-time opportunity with a pay rate of $18.59 per hour, making it an attractive position for individuals passionate about customer service and hospitality within a charitable organization.

A successful Concierge will provide accurate information about lodge amenities and community resources to guests, ensure smooth coordination of transportation and the EMPOWER program services, and respond promptly to guest requests, concerns, and emergencies. Maintaining an organized front desk and keeping accurate guest records is essential, as is monitoring lobby security and implementing safety protocols to create a secure, comfortable setting. This role requires strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. Aside from the functional aspects, the Concierge represents the American Cancer Society's ethos of kindness and supportiveness during each guest interaction, influencing the reputation and service quality of the organization.

Working as a Concierge at the American Cancer Society also provides opportunities for personal and professional growth. Employees benefit from a supportive work environment that offers various wellness initiatives, ongoing professional development programs, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and retirement plans. The organization’s paid time off policy further supports employee work-life balance. Candidates who are committed to enhancing customer experience and who thrive in dynamic environments will find this role especially fulfilling, as they directly contribute to a mission that seeks to end cancer and improve lives every day.
