Job Duties

  • Review menus and customer orders to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared
  • Prepare, season and cook food
  • Carve portions of meat, fish or fowl for individual servings
  • Plan menus and estimate required food quantities, labor and overhead costs
  • Lead kitchen assistants in food preparation, cooking and storage
  • Maintain kitchen and storage facilities in sanitary condition
  • Handle basic culinary issues and refer complex problems to senior staff
