Job Description

All Classical Radio is a prominent classical music radio station stationed in the Pacific Northwest, specifically serving Oregon and Southwest Washington. The station is well-known for its commitment to broadcasting quality classical music to a diverse and culturally engaged audience. It reaches over a quarter of a million local listeners weekly and extends its global reach through mobile applications and online streaming platforms. All Classical Radio stands out as one of America’s top classical music broadcasters, dedicated to the enrichment of the cultural landscape and fostering a deep connection between classical music and its audience. The station operates with an inclusive philosophy, aiming to build cultural community and make the arts accessible to everyone. With a robust history and a mission steeped in passion for classical music, All Classical Radio delivers content that not only entertains but also educates and inspires its listeners. The role of On Air Host and Producer at All Classical Radio offers a unique opportunity for a creative, passionate storyteller who loves classical music and wants to share that passion with a wide audience. This position is ideal for someone who is energetic, personable, and capable of conveying information with authenticity and integrity. Although the station is not currently actively recruiting, applications are encouraged for future consideration, allowing candidates to have their resumes on file. The role involves producing, curating, and hosting a regular on-air classical music program, contributing to flagship shows, and engaging with young audiences through the Youth Roving Reporters program. This youth engagement aspect includes recruiting young talent, mentoring, arranging interviews, and attending relevant community events. The position also requires writing web stories and managing social media content to enhance listener interaction and digital presence. In addition to hosting and producing radio content, the candidate will edit and report feature stories, fill in for other hosts and producers as needed, and contribute to the International Children’s Arts Network (ICAN) on HD2 and online. Collaboration with the marketing and fundraising teams is an essential part of the role, requiring the creation of campaign materials and participation in fundraising activities. Candidates with experience in podcasting, digital content creation, and use of audio editing software such as Adobe Audition and ENCO will find this role particularly fitting. The position blends traditional radio hosting with innovative digital media and community involvement, making it a dynamic opportunity for an experienced media professional who is passionate about classical music representation and audience growth. The role is unionized, hourly, non-exempt, and involves 40 hours of work per week, with occasional nights and weekends as required. The compensation ranges annually between $47,757 and $68,203 depending on experience and qualifications. All Classical Radio offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 100% employer-paid health insurance covering medical, dental, and vision benefits for employees and their families, a 2% 401(k) employer match, and generous paid time off starting at up to 29 days per year. Membership in the IBEW Local 48 union is mandatory for this position. The station is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of employment from recruitment through to retention and promotion. Applicants are ensured a discrimination-free workplace regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics. This ensures that All Classical Radio remains a welcoming and supportive environment for all staff members.
