Job Description

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Education and Human Sciences houses the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), a membership-based program dedicated to lifelong learning for adults aged 50 and older. OLLI offers a diverse range of noncredit courses, lectures, events, and travel opportunities designed to foster a love of learning without the pressures of tests or grades. The program is committed to enriching the lives of its members by providing engaging educational experiences and community-connected activities that emphasize intellectual curiosity and social interaction. The College itself is known for its vibrant, welcoming, and caring community focused on enhancing the lives of individuals, families, schools, and broader communities through education and relationship-building. UNL is recognized for its supportive work environment, professional development opportunities, and outstanding employee benefits, including comprehensive insurance, paid time off, retirement plans with university matching, and educational scholarships. The institution prides itself on being a family-friendly workplace and a top employer, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion without discrimination based on race, gender identity, or other protected statuses.

The OLLI Events Coordinator at UNL plays a pivotal role in the success of OLLI's programs by planning, organizing, and managing all events offered through the institute. This full-time position requires a highly organized and motivated individual who can oversee all aspects of events ranging from intimate luncheons and receptions to larger programs that accommodate over 300 attendees. As the primary contact for event planning, the coordinator manages event logistics, content, and budgeting while working closely with committees of volunteers. Responsibilities include supervising volunteer schedules, handling correspondence with presenters and entertainers, and actively seeking member input to improve event offerings. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is necessary to accommodate a variety of event schedules. With a salary starting at $22.50 per hour, this role offers an excellent opportunity for candidates passionate about lifelong learning and event coordination within an academic and community-oriented environment. The position emphasizes excellent interpersonal and communication skills, computer proficiency including virtual event hosting capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups, supporting OLLI’s mission to provide valuable educational and social experiences for its members.
