The Offshore Night Cook position at Sodexo is a full-time role offering an hourly wage of $13.00. This role requires working varying shifts during nights, with open availability preferred to accommodate the dynamic nature of offshore operations. As an integral member of the culinary team, the Offshore Night Cook is responsible for preparing and presenting a wide range of high-quality hot and cold meals to meet Sodexo's culinary standards. This position demands a keen attention to detail and adherence to strict food safety, sanitation, and quality guidelines. Working primarily during night shifts on offshore sites, the cook must be reliable, adaptable, and capable of maintaining a clean and organized workstation in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

In this role, the Offshore Night Cook will execute fundamental cooking tasks including following recipes, seasoning, tasting, carving, and serving foods across various meal periods and special events. The role includes tasks such as planning food production requirements, estimating ingredient needs, and keeping accurate records for requisitioning supplies and equipment. Physical stamina is important, as the job entails standing or walking for extended periods, performing repetitive motions, and handling equipment safely. The cook must cooperate closely with the kitchen team to ensure an exceptional dining experience for offshore personnel.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Good working knowledge of food preparation
  • Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment
  • Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised

Job Duties

  • Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided
  • Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments
  • Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
  • Significant walking or other means of mobility
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, throughout the entire duration of a shift, which may exceed 8 hours
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions
  • Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements
