Job Description
The Alpena ECC (Early Childhood Center) is a community-focused organization dedicated to providing comprehensive support and services to families and children in the Alpena area. The center operates various programs aimed at fostering early childhood development, supporting family services, and ensuring that children receive the necessary care and attention during their formative years. Known for its commitment to quality education and community engagement, Alpena ECC collaborates with multiple stakeholders including families, educators, and social service providers to create a nurturing environment conducive to the growth and well-being of young children. The center focuses on offering a range of programs and support services that are not only beneficial to children but also empower parents and caregivers with the knowledge and resources they need to support their children's development effectively.
The role of the Program Assistant at Alpena ECC is instrumental in maintaining the organization and efficiency of the center's programs. This position involves a variety of clerical and administrative duties that are essential to keeping the programs running smoothly and ensuring that all necessary documentation and communications are handled promptly and accurately. The Program Assistant plays a key support role by assisting the Area Manager and Family Services Coordinators with tasks such as filing, copying, data entry, managing appointments, and other programmatic responsibilities as assigned. Beyond administrative support, this role may also include responsibilities like acting as a receptionist by managing phone inquiries and messages, organizing office maintenance requests, and even assisting with classroom or bus aide duties as needed.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in an office environment within a community service context and is looking to contribute to early childhood education and family services indirectly by providing vital administrative support. It requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Access. The Program Assistant must be comfortable handling confidential client information with discretion and be capable of managing multiple tasks effectively. In addition, a friendly and professional demeanor is essential since this role involves frequent interaction with clients, staff, and visitors. Overall, this position offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a team dedicated to making a positive impact on families and children in the Alpena community, providing essential behind-the-scenes support that helps the programs succeed.
