The role in question is a crucial position within the store's operations, responsible for coordinating financial transactions and customer service activities in the store office. Essentially, this role involves managing the flow of money in and out of the store, handling various types of transactions such as Western Union, money orders, lottery tickets, refunds, and coin redemptions, among others. The individual filling this role is also tasked with maintaining accurate financial records and bank deposit logs, ensuring all cash register drawers are balanced and any discrepancies are reported promptly. This position requires familiarity with company policies related to tender processes including checks, credit, debit, coupons, and government programs like EBT and WIC. It also requires attention to compliance with local, state, and federal laws governing the sale of restricted items such as tobacco, alcohol, and prescription or cannabis-based products.
Customer service is an essential aspect of the role, requiring a friendly and attentive demeanor to greet customers, answer questions, and address complaints effectively. The position also involves performing various administrative and operational duties in the store office such as ordering supplies, assisting cashiers, and handling incoming phone calls. Flexibility is important as the job may require working nights, weekends, and holidays. Working conditions include standing or walking continuously, occasional lifting of objects up to 75 lbs, and performing duties in a retail environment that may expose the employee to cleaning agents and varying noise levels. Job Requirements
- Minimum of 16 years of age
- Must be 21 years or older to drive for company business
- AML certification required
- TABC/LACT/AATC certification required where applicable
- HIPAA certification required
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to maintain accuracy
- Ability to remain courteous
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
- Must be attentive to potential hazards and report to supervisor as needed

Job Duties
- Processes requests for Western Union, money orders, lottery tickets, coin redemptions, refunds, equipment rental, etc.
- Prepares cash/check deposits and maintains accurate store financial records and bank deposit logs
- Checks cash register drawers for overages and shortages and reports discrepancies to management
- Performs store office activities such as ordering supplies, assisting cashiers, and answering telephone calls
- Remains current on tender policies and procedures related to checks, credit, debit, coupons, EBT, WIC, AML, etc.
- Accesses or memorizes product codes and stays familiar with advertisements and special items
- Maintains accurate money count in drawer by checking out groceries, providing change, and closing out drawers
- Adheres to laws regarding sales of restricted items such as tobacco, alcohol, and cannabis-based and pharmaceutical products
- Provides friendly customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and responding to complaints
- Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary work and shopping environment by following safety procedures
