Job Description
Panera Bread is a renowned fast-casual restaurant chain dedicated to providing high-quality bakery-cafe cuisine with an emphasis on fresh, wholesome ingredients. The company is widely recognized for its commitment to serving food made from real ingredients, fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and prioritizing both customer satisfaction and employee well-being. Panera is known for its inviting environment where customers can enjoy freshly baked bread, soups, salads, sandwiches, and beverages, making it a favorite community gathering spot. Operating numerous locations across the United States, Panera Bread has built a reputation for excellence and innovation in the foodservice industry, emphasizing quality, freshness, and sustainability. The company cultivates a culture that values its team members highly, offering extensive support, growth opportunities, and a range of benefits designed to create a positive work environment.
At Panera, their people come first. If you are looking for a workplace where you can grow professionally, feel supported by leadership and peers, express your authentic self, and enjoy excellent perks while having some fun, Panera Bread could be the perfect place for you. The company aims to help its employees succeed every day in every way, fostering a culture of warmth, belonging, growth, and trust. This approach not only cultivates skill development but also encourages personal satisfaction and team camaraderie. Being part of Panera means more than just a job—it means contributing to a shared mission of making the familiar fantastic by delivering delicious food and excellent customer experiences.
The Retail Team Member position, specifically as a Salad and Sandwich Maker, plays a vital role in delivering Panera’s promise of fresh, delightful food. This role involves preparing and assembling fresh salads, plating soups, and constructing sandwiches using real ingredients—not operating a fast-food style assembly line, but focusing on quality and craftsmanship. Employees who take on this role are expected to be informed about daily priorities, maintain a positive attitude even in challenging moments, and adapt quickly to changing circumstances. Duties include timely cleaning and stocking to ensure smooth operations for subsequent shifts, meeting speed and accuracy standards by ensuring every order is prepared quickly and correctly, and providing friendly, warm service to guarantee a great guest experience. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment is also critical to this position, as is contributing positively to the overall company culture.
Panera advocates for flexible and reliable scheduling to accommodate diverse lifestyles and offers competitive pay supplemented by eligibility for team tips. Full-time team members enjoy paid vacation, sick time, holidays, and access to medical, dental, vision, life, and even pet insurance. A 401(k) plan with company matching encourages financial planning and security. Additional benefits include tuition discounts, leadership development opportunities, a team member assistance program, free on-shift meals, unlimited fountain beverages, and various perks and rewards designed to enhance employee satisfaction and engagement. This job opportunity is ideal for individuals aged 16 and over who enjoy working with food, can thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are eager to learn and grow within a team-oriented setting. Panera Bread is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion, welcoming disabled individuals and veterans to apply. Joining Panera as a Retail Team Member - Salad and Sandwich Maker means becoming part of a dynamic team striving to make every customer’s experience memorable while nurturing personal and professional growth in a supportive workplace environment.
