Job Description
ACERTUS is a leading logistics and transportation company specializing in vehicle movement and supply chain solutions. The company is known for its commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction, catering to major clients such as automotive manufacturers and distributors. Operating in complex rail yards and distribution hubs, ACERTUS plays a critical role in managing the safe and efficient flow of vehicles from production points to final delivery locations. The company’s culture emphasizes safety, accuracy, and seamless coordination across multiple teams to meet strict service level agreements (SLAs) and operational goals. ACERTUS is dedicated to providing its employees with comprehensive training and support to uphold the highest standards in logistics and transportation management.
The OEM Service Porter position at ACERTUS is a pivotal role within their rail yard and hub operations. This role involves supporting vehicle inspection, documentation, staging, delivery coordination, and the physical delivery of units at assigned rail yard or distribution locations. The position is essential to meeting Ford’s SLA requirements by ensuring that vehicle condition and documentation are accurate while maintaining safe and efficient yard operations. The role varies slightly depending on whether the porter is rail-yard based or hub-based, which affects their reporting structure and operational flow.
This full-time position typically works Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with some weekend hours and schedule variations as required. Compensation for this role ranges between $20 to $22 per hour, depending on experience (BOE). The Service Porter is responsible for a variety of daily tasks critical to vehicle movement and logistics support. These tasks include locating and coordinating vehicles for delivery and car haul support, conducting thorough pre-delivery inspections to identify and document any vehicle damage, and preparing and managing all necessary Bill of Lading (BOL) documentation according to standard operating procedures.
In addition, the Service Porter applies required hang tags and stages vehicles that are ready for delivery. Communication with dispatch and logistics teams is paramount, especially for escalating risks that may impact delivery schedules or SLA performance. The role also involves supporting overall yard operations through safety compliance, managing yard hazards, handling contraband issues, and supporting gate processes and driver assistance where needed. Given the outdoor nature of the job, porters must be prepared to work in varying weather conditions and maintain a high level of physical endurance to walk long distances and stand for extended periods.
The position demands a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills to interact professionally with management, drivers, and partners. Proficiency with smartphones and laptops, including various software applications, is required to carry out documentation and reporting duties accurately. ACERTUS expects its OEM Service Porters to uphold the company’s safety standards and professional conduct at all times to ensure a secure and productive work environment. This role provides an opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in logistics and vehicle transportation, emphasizing operational excellence and customer service excellence.
