Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of experience in import cargo coordination
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Bi-lingual in Spanish and English
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent telephone etiquette
- Ability to follow up on tasks and take ownership of work
- Knowledge of government customs and inspection procedures is preferred
Job Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel
- Experience with import of perishables (produce)
- 1 year of import cargo experience
- Excellent communication skills and telephone etiquette
- Bi-lingual in Spanish and English
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to manage large amounts of information efficiently
- Self-starter with strong follow-up skills
- Detail oriented and highly organized
Job Duties
- Vessel tracking on carrier websites and by phone
- Confirm government inspection times with carriers and notify customers accordingly
- Check for government agency releases using specialized software
- Notify customers in writing if cargo is on hold and keep them informed of delays and expected releases
- Send delivery orders to carriers and truckers several days before release to ensure truck power availability
- Contact carriers and truckers to arrange delivery of cargo after customs clearance
- Respond to customer inquiries by phone and email
- Update customer shipment charts as new shipments arrive
- Coordinate with carriers, USDA, and fumigation services when insects requiring fumigation are found
- Review new documentation and send packages to Customs at ports requiring hard copies
- Follow up all phone discussions with customers, steamship lines, or government agencies by email
- Pay charges for inspections and terminal services as required
- Prepare necessary government documentation for cargo movement related to fumigation and inspection
