Job Description
VNS Health is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit home and community-based health care organizations with a rich history spanning over 130 years. Known for pioneering innovations in health care, VNS Health remains committed to helping individuals live, age, and heal where they feel most comfortable—their own homes—while staying closely connected to their families and communities. On any given day, VNS Health’s dedicated team of over 10,000 professionals delivers compassionate, expert care 24/7 to more than 43,000 individuals, driven by a mission to enhance health and well-being in the communities they serve. The organization leverages advanced data analytics, exceptional resources, and diverse health care solutions to simplify the health care experience and address the complex and varied needs of its patients in New York and beyond.
The Occupational Therapist role at VNS Health is an integral part of this innovative and compassionate care delivery model. Occupational Therapists play a critical role in helping New Yorkers regain their independence and return home safely after surgery, illnesses, or accidents. They achieve this by designing and implementing personalized one-on-one rehabilitative therapy programs tailored to each patient’s unique circumstances. Unlike traditional settings where therapy may be more generalized, VNS Health Occupational Therapists have the opportunity to assess and track patients’ progress by being embedded in their daily lives, offering the chance to see firsthand the environment and habits that influence recovery. This frontline role involves autonomous practice within community settings while working alongside an interdisciplinary care team, ensuring patients receive holistic, continuous care.
This position offers a rewarding career path with a competitive salary range from $85,000 to $106,300 annually, reflecting the critical expertise and dedication required. Benefits are comprehensive, starting with generous paid time off including 30 days of PTO plus nine company holidays, and extended health insurance coverage not only for the employee but also their families. Additional perks include employer-matched retirement savings, personal and financial wellness programs, flexible spending accounts for healthcare and dependent care, and substantial tuition reimbursement supporting further education. The organization also promotes professional growth through CEU credits, internal mobility, and abundant advancement opportunities within its vast network.
Occupational Therapists at VNS Health are expected to independently conduct thorough patient assessments, develop and execute effective treatment plans, and modify goals based on continuous evaluation of evolving patient needs. This dynamic role demands adaptability, strong clinical judgment, and compassion, alongside excellent communication skills to engage with patients in diverse home environments or care facilities. Successful candidates must hold a valid Occupational Therapist license in New York State, with a valid driver’s license required for travel to areas outside Manhattan. A minimum of one year of occupational therapy experience or successful completion of a VNS Health Rehab Intern probationary period is also necessary.
Becoming part of VNS Health means joining a respected organization where your work directly impacts the quality of life for individuals in the community, backed by a supportive, growth-oriented environment. For therapists passionate about making a difference through personalized care, this role combines professional fulfillment with the stability and benefits of a leading nonprofit health care provider.
