Committed to diversity and inclusion, Spokane Public Schools strives to create an environment that respects differences and provides equitable opportunities for all learners. This community-centered approach aims to support students' academic, social, and emotional well-being, nurturing lifelong learners and positive influence-makers within society. Employment with Spokane Public Schools offers a supportive workplace culture that values reflection, growth through feedback, teamwork, and a passion for making a meaningful difference in students' lives. The position is a continuing role with daily working hours from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and may include an additional hour per day based on grant availability. The salary aligns with Level 1 on the Nutrition Services Salary Schedule, with increments depending on previous relevant experience within Washington State public schools.
This role within the Nutrition Services Department is crucial in supporting the district's commitment to providing high-quality, nutritious meals to its students—an essential element of their overall educational experience. Under the supervision of the Cafeteria Manager, Transport Manager, or their designee, the selected candidate will assist in meal preparation, service, and cleanup, ensuring compliance with budget constraints and nutrition program standards. The position requires professional and cooperative interaction not only with kitchen and school staff but also students and the public. It offers an opportunity to contribute directly to student health and wellness by promoting nutrition education and adhering to strict food safety and sanitation guidelines. The role provides modest but meaningful hours suited for those interested in a part-time position, and the work environment encompasses kitchen and cafeteria settings with exposure to cooking equipment and the need for physical activity, including lifting and standing for extended periods. Employees working at least 630 hours annually are eligible for comprehensive benefits administered through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB), including medical, dental, and vision coverage. Additional perks may include paid vacation, sick leave, personal days, holidays, and potential stipends in accordance with collective bargaining agreements. This position is instrumental in sustaining a successful, self-supporting Nutrition Services program that aligns with district goals and state regulations, playing a key part in nourishing students and fostering a safe and engaged school community.
