Job Description

This position is with a healthcare-focused organization dedicated to delivering high-quality nutrition services to patients, staff, and visitors. The nutrition services department plays a crucial role in the overall health and wellness of patients by supervising food assembly, preparation, and service. The Nutrition Services Supervisor is a full-time role primarily scheduled for an evening shift from 11am to 7:30pm with flexible shift options as needed. The role requires a minimum of 80 hours per pay period, including working every other weekend and rotating holidays to ensure continuous coverage. This position requires a strong leader who can supervise the main kitchen, cafeteria, dish room, and sanitation teams while focusing on process improvement and quality control. It supports talent development through effective training and evaluation of team members, fostering a high-performance work environment.

The supervisor will be responsible for daily communication with cross-functional teams including dietitians, nursing staff, and support services to coordinate patient meal service efficiently. The role involves managing key operational duties such as opening and closing the department, coordinating tray assembly and delivery, and maintaining adherence to hospital policies and procedures. Ideal candidates will have a background in nutrition, institutional management, or related fields along with proven experience in food service leadership, preferably in healthcare settings. Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree in nutrition, hotel, restaurant, institution management, business or related field or equivalent combination of education/training/experience
  • ServeSafe Certifications within 6 months of hire date
  • Three (3) years of food service experience
  • Preferred: three (3) years of food service leadership experience in a health care setting
  • One year cooking experience in an institutional setting

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Performs opening and closing responsibilities of department
  • Responsible for all organizational and talent effectiveness functions including interviewing, hiring, counseling, performance management, schedule, training and continuing education
  • Assures that patient services colleagues are properly supported and have the tools they need to accomplish job duties
  • Responsible for the coordination of patient meal service including diet office, tray assembly, tray delivery and dish room functions
  • Adheres to unit, departmental and hospital policies and procedures
  • Maintains open dialogue with Director (GM), managers, dietitians, supervisors, nursing, and support services staff regarding all aspects of patient meal service
  • Implements all THS FANS policies as they are rolled out
