Job Description

CHI St. Vincent is a renowned regional health network serving the state of Arkansas with a legacy dating back to 1888. As a vital part of CommonSpirit Health, which was established through the alignment of Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health in 2019, CHI St. Vincent is dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services and fostering healthy communities. With a strong team of over 4,500 coworkers, 1,000 medical staff, and 500 volunteers, the organization has consistently been recognized for its advancements in patient care and community health initiatives. The network emphasizes not only delivering top-tier medical care but also advocating for the underserved and vulnerable populations. The culture at CHI St. Vincent reflects an unyielding commitment to innovation in healthcare by enhancing services both within hospital walls and in the larger community.

This commitment to quality care extends to the well-being of its team members, providing a supportive environment that values work-life balance through comprehensive benefits and wellness programs. Employees are encouraged to thrive professionally and personally, supported by resources that help maintain overall health and job satisfaction.

The role of Nutrition Assistant I at CHI St. Vincent is essential in maintaining the high standards of patient care and hospitality that the network is known for. Working closely with patients and visitors every day, the Nutrition Assistant ensures that all dining areas within the facility are meticulously sanitized and well-stocked, contributing significantly to the overall healing environment. This position involves preparing and serving nutritious meals that align with patient dietary restrictions and preferences, promoting health and recovery.

A typical day for a Nutrition Assistant includes setting up meal trays based on specific patient requests received through the patient room service program, collecting dirty trays and dishes from patient care areas, and efficiently cleaning these in an automatic dishwasher before returning them to proper storage areas. Beyond food service tasks, the role requires maintaining a clean and safe environment, adhering to strict hygiene standards to prevent any risks associated with foodborne illnesses.

Successful candidates for this position must have a genuine passion for helping others and possess the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role is ideal for individuals who take pride in providing comfort and care through nutritional support, working collaboratively with other food service team members across various functions, including cashiering, stocking, cleaning, and tray service. By ensuring patients and staff receive nutritious meals promptly and safely, Nutrition Assistants play a crucial part in the hospital's mission to create a welcoming, healing atmosphere for all who enter its doors.
