This baking role at Price Chopper is an exciting opportunity for individuals who wish to join a dynamic bakery team within a busy retail environment. The position involves preparing, baking, and merchandising a variety of bakery products such as breads, cakes, pastries, and other baked goods under the direct supervision of the bakery manager or the first clerk. The bakery associate plays a crucial part in creating visually appealing and delicious bakery displays that encourage sales and enhance the customer's shopping experience. This role demands adherence to both corporate and state sanitation and safety standards to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

The bakery associate is expected to provide fast, friendly, helpful, and efficient customer service. This includes greeting customers with a smile, making eye contact, and thanking them as their requests are fulfilled. Additionally, the role requires operating bakery equipment such as ovens, mixers, and utensils safely and efficiently. Staff must maintain an organized workstation at all times following 5S standards to promote a neat and professional environment.

An important part of the role includes assisting in or creating customer special orders like custom cakes, ensuring accuracy and customer satisfaction. The associate will also help control product shrinkage by following related policies and procedures. Physical stamina is essential as the job involves constant standing, lifting heavy items up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasional lifting up to 100 pounds, alongside pushing and pulling heavier weights up to 2400 pounds. The bakery associate should be comfortable working in environments with fluctuating temperatures, including exposure to heat and cold, for extended periods.

This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $15.75 to $20.00, depending on experience and location.
