Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline food distributor that specializes in providing a comprehensive selection of food products and related services to a diverse client base. This includes independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself on building strong, lasting relationships with its customers through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts who offer valuable guidance on improving operations, menu creation, product selection, and strategic business growth. Located at the heart of America's food distribution network, Performance Foodservice combines a vast product portfolio with personalized customer service and operational expertise to help foodservice operators succeed.
The role being offered is a Delivery Driver position focused on supporting the company's mission by timely and safely delivering food and food-related products to various customers. This is a critical position that ensures the seamless continuation of the food supply chain by managing intrastate and interstate deliveries on local routes. The delivery driver not only handles urgent orders, often affected by issues such as mispicks, but also plays an instrumental role in maintaining the high level of customer satisfaction that Performance Foodservice is known for. With a competitive hourly wage of $22.00, this position offers a stable, full-time schedule typically based on a five-day workweek, with Sunday through Friday availability and flexibility to float between schedules when needed. The regular hours when no coverage is required fall between 3:30 pm and 12:00 am.
In this vital role, the driver is responsible for comprehensive vehicle safety checks including pre- and post-trip inspections compliant with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This includes verifying that trucks, vans, and trailers meet company safety standards and are properly loaded and secured. The driver must accurately complete all paperwork related to freight delivery, ensuring documentation is legible and complete. Deliveries involve not only transporting goods but also unloading and placing items in designated customer storage areas, performing damage control procedures, obtaining proper delivery confirmations, and managing any required payment collections.
Performance Foodservice emphasizes safety and professionalism in all its operations. As such, the driver is expected to maintain compliance with DOT regulations and company policies, report safety concerns immediately, and safeguard freight and vehicle integrity during the entire delivery process. Furthermore, the driver is entrusted with routine housekeeping duties including maintaining cleanliness in tractor and dock areas and ensuring all equipment is secured at the end of the shift. This role provides meaningful growth opportunities within a company dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and rewarding work environment where employees receive recognition and respect.
The company offers a comprehensive benefits package from day one, including health and wellness benefits, participation in an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and much more. Working at Performance Foodservice means becoming part of a team that values essential work in supporting America's food distribution system, offering a culture that rewards excellence and encourages career advancement. This delivery driver position is ideal for motivated individuals who value safety, customer service, and operational excellence in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
