The Yard Driver, Non-CDL role at Performance Foodservice plays a crucial part in the company’s role within America’s food supply chain. The position is designed for individuals who take pride in performing essential work that supports the timely and safe distribution of food products to customers. Scheduled Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM, this role offers a competitive pay rate of $24.00 per hour and includes comprehensive benefits such as Day 1 health and wellness coverage, a 401K plan with employer matching, an employee stock purchase program, education assistance, and paid time off among other perks.

In this position, the Yard Driver is responsible for maneuvering tractor trailers on company premises, including loading docks and designated parking areas, as well as transporting trailers to offsite maintenance or inspection locations. Operating without a commercial driver’s license, the driver ensures that trailers are parked, loaded, and moved efficiently and safely following Department of Transportation regulations. The Yard Driver embodies the face of the company to internal and external stakeholders by maintaining professional communication with customers, vendors, and colleagues, helping build lasting, trust-based relationships. This role is integral to maintaining seamless warehouse and logistics operations, ensuring that shipments reach their destinations on time and in proper condition, thereby directly contributing to customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • six plus months driving experience
  • internal candidates may be promoted with less than six months experience with good performance record in accordance with driver training program requirements
  • must be able to work scheduled assigned times and required overtime
  • valid non-commercial driver’s license
  • meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • clean Motor Vehicle Report for past three years
  • pass post offer drug test and criminal background check

Job Duties

  • Performs inspections and moves trailers safely following all DOT regulations and company safe-driving policies
  • fuels, moves, and parks tractors and trailers to the docks
  • transports tractor trailers to offsite maintenance and/or inspection facilities including local city driving
  • secures trucks, trailers, and equipment always
  • completes all required documentation
  • communicates professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers
  • performs other related duties as assigned
