Job Description
US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor in the United States that provides a wide range of food and related products to restaurants, healthcare and hospitality facilities, government operations, and many other foodservice customers. With decades of industry experience, US Foods is known for its commitment to delivering quality products and exceptional service to its diverse customer base. The company continually innovates and adapts to the foodservice industry's evolving needs, helping businesses thrive through efficient and reliable supply chain solutions. As a large-scale distributor, US Foods values its employees and offers competitive compensation packages and comprehensive benefits to foster career growth and satisfaction. This role is a full-time position with a competitive starting hourly pay of $24.40, with scheduled increases after completing one year of employment. The work schedule for this role includes early morning dispatch times from 5 to 8 a.m., Tuesday through Saturday, providing a reliable routine for employees.
The Non CDL Driver I at US Foods is a vital delivery position responsible for operating a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) limit of 14,900 pounds. This role involves delivering foodservice products to multiple stops each day, ensuring timely and accurate delivery that upholds the company's quality and service standards. While commercial or professional driving experience is preferred, it is not mandatory, making this an excellent opportunity for drivers looking to build a career in the foodservice distribution sector. The driver must hold a Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Card and a valid U.S. driver’s license with appropriate state-issued endorsements if required. The role demands careful attention to safety regulations, including compliance with DOT rules, safe vehicle operation, and proper handling of food products to maintain safety and customer satisfaction. Drivers are expected to perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, monitor refrigeration systems, and handle all required delivery documentation accurately. The role requires physical stamina to frequently lift 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds, load and unload deliveries, and use a hand truck to move products, sometimes up and down stairs. Drivers will also communicate effectively with customers and company personnel to resolve any issues that arise during delivery, maintaining professionalism and excellent customer service throughout. This position involves working primarily outdoors in various weather conditions, requiring resilience and adaptability. Compensation includes potential overtime pay, incentive compensation based on productivity and quality, and eligibility for various employee benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and more, emphasizing US Foods’ commitment to supporting its workforce and encouraging long-term career development within the company.
