The Non CDL Driver I position at US Foods is a critical role responsible for delivering foodservice products to designated stops using company vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of up to 14,900 lbs. This position involves driving, loading, and unloading multiple deliveries while maintaining a high standard of safety and customer service. Drivers are expected to follow all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, perform vehicle inspections, and ensure secure handling and documentation of products, including any returns. Starting hourly pay begins at $24.40 with an increase after one year, and the schedule is set from 5-8am dispatch time Tuesday through Saturday. Job Requirements

  • Must have DOT medical card
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with proper endorsements if required
  • No more than two traffic violations in the past two years
  • No DUI convictions in the past three years
  • No driver’s license suspensions in the past three years
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays and overtime
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Use safe lifting and loading techniques

Job Qualifications

  • DOT medical card required
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • No commercial or professional driving experience required
  • One year of multi-stop delivery experience preferred or six months local delivery experience and/or foodservice industry experience
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license issued by the state of legal residence with proper endorsements if required
  • No more than two convictions in the past two-year period for traffic violations, no DUI convictions in the past three years, no driver’s license suspensions in the past three years
  • Hand cart delivery experience preferred
  • Able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and safety regulations
  • Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • Use safe lifting and loading techniques
  • Great interpersonal/customer service skills
  • Availability to work on weekends, holidays and overtime to service customers

Job Duties

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis and up to 100 lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Load and unload the vehicle for multi-stop deliveries
  • Transport deliveries by driving assigned vehicles
  • Use hand truck to move product from the delivery vehicle into the customer location including going up and down stairs with product as necessary
  • Accurately record delivery information including operating a hand scanner and all company required documentation
  • Responsible for the proper documentation and disposition for any return product
  • Communicate delivery-customer issues to proper authority
  • Deliver product to each of the designated stops following the stop sequence provided
  • Unload product safely and stage product in the space(s) designated by customer
  • Check invoice for complete delivery, process paperwork and damaged merchandise if any
  • Collect payments if necessary
  • Monitor refrigeration system on the delivery vehicle on a consistent basis for safety and follow all safe food handling procedures
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections such as monitoring fluid levels, tires, windshield wash and replenishing fuel
  • Other duties as assigned
