Job Description

PFG Specialty is a distinguished family of premium, protein-focused companies dedicated to providing the highest quality food products and services to distinguished restaurants, hotels, country clubs, and foodservice providers throughout New England and Florida. This family of businesses operates independently in their respective regions, offering the expertise and craftsmanship of seasoned local professionals embedded within the foodservice industry. Established leaders, including T.F. Kinnealey & Co., Inc., Larry Kline Wholesale Meats & Provisions, and Bar Harbor Seafood, have built reputations for excellence by delivering top-tier meats, provisions, and seafood to premier establishments for decades. For example, T.F. Kinnealey & Co., founded in 1939, serves New England’s finest restaurants and hotels with unsurpassed quality and service, while Larry Kline Wholesale Meats & Provisions, founded in 1976, serves Florida and the Caribbean with high-quality products for premier hospitality venues. Bar Harbor Seafood, located in Orlando, is known as one of Central Florida’s leading seafood distributors offering a broad selection of fresh, live, and specialty seafood products.

As an equal employment opportunity employer, PFG and its subsidiaries maintain a strong commitment to inclusivity, providing a safe, diverse, and respectful workplace environment where employees thrive and grow. They offer a comprehensive compensation package including competitive hourly wages starting at $20.00 per hour, day-one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K with employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and additional perks aimed at fostering employee satisfaction and career advancement.

The Driver position at PFG Specialty is a critical role that ensures the swift and safe delivery of perishable food and related products to customer locations. Reporting directly to the logistics or transportation supervisor, the driver operates straight trucks or vans for intrastate or interstate deliveries generally focused on local routes in and around Pompano Beach, Florida. This role is essential to maintaining the efficiency and reliability of America’s food distribution system by handling urgent delivery orders resulting from stock discrepancies or other customer service challenges, thus directly contributing to a seamless supply chain.

Drivers are expected to perform rigorous safety inspections daily, following Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and to ensure the vehicle’s cab and trailer are maintained to company standards. The role demands careful attention to detail when checking and verifying delivery loads, completing associated freight paperwork accurately, and managing both delivery and return logistics effectively. Beyond driving, the role requires careful unloading and loading tasks, including handling product cases that can weigh between 60 and 90 pounds, using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates. Maintaining clean and organized trailers, docks, and vehicle cabs is also part of daily responsibilities.

The work schedule is structured as a five-day workweek within a six-day operational schedule, generally Monday through Saturday with Sundays off. Start times begin at 6am and continue until all assigned deliveries are completed for the day. This schedule may fluctuate week by week depending on route assignments, emphasizing the need for flexibility. The physical demands of the job include lifting, bending, and operating various logistical equipment, necessitating both physical stamina and adherence to safety protocols.

Overall, this role requires a dependable and safety-conscious individual with excellent customer service skills to represent PFG Specialty’s high standards in its operational activities. The position provides opportunities for growth within the company and a stable work environment imbued with a culture of respect, recognition, and reward.
