The role of the Delivery Driver involves managing daily routes with multiple stops, requiring the driver to physically load and unload packages onto hand trucks and deliver products in the order specified by the Transportation Department Manager. This means operating under a structured schedule and adhering to efficient route times to meet delivery deadlines. The driver will also be engaged in a cross-dock model, wherein they pick up loaded trucks from nightly deliveries at assigned loading docks and return empty trucks to designated lots at the end of their routes. To support efficient operations, the driver may sometimes assist with tasks such as loading trucks, palletizing products, and other duties assigned by supervisors or managers. The role necessitates a strong attention to detail, particularly when verifying deliveries with customers, obtaining signatures, and handling discrepancies or returns. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential for professionally managing customer interactions and resolving complaints.

Safety compliance is paramount in this position. Drivers must conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections in line with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies. The position involves extensive physical activity, including lifting weights ranging from 1 to 75 pounds regularly, reaching, bending, and twisting while handling product on and off trailers under various weather conditions. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • one year route delivery experience or applicable background driving a straight truck
  • valid driver’s license
  • ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public
  • ability to understand highway traffic signs and signals
  • ability to respond to official inquiries and record entries
  • physically capable of lifting between 1 and 75 pounds regularly
  • willing to work in all weather conditions

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
