Job Description

US Foods is one of the largest foodservice distributors in the United States, known for its extensive network, high-quality products, and strong commitment to customer service. With a culture rooted in promoting from within, continuous improvement, and employee development, US Foods offers a supportive and engaging work environment. The company provides excellent training programs and fosters a strong safety culture that prioritizes the well-being of its employees and customers alike. US Foods plays a crucial role in shaping the communities where it operates by delivering top-tier food products and services to restaurants, healthcare facilities, hospitality establishments, and other foodservice clients. Recognized as a leader in the foodservice industry, US Foods is committed to helping its employees grow their careers while delivering exceptional value to its customers.

The role of a US Foods Delivery Driver is essential to the company’s success, acting as the face of the organization during customer interactions. This position offers a rewarding career with an attractive starting hourly wage of $30.61, increasing to $32.79 after six months, along with overtime compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. The delivery drivers are responsible for safely operating trucks to deliver food products to customers while adhering to strict safety guidelines and schedules. Drivers handle product unloading using equipment such as pallet jacks and two-wheelers and ensure the accuracy of deliveries by obtaining signatures and managing payment collections when necessary. This role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift 20 to 80+ pounds repeatedly during shifts and working in various weather conditions, with frequent stops.

Schedule-wise, the position requires working Monday through Saturday, with two days off during the week; however, Saturday work is mandatory. US Foods values local leadership and strives to create an excellent working atmosphere for its drivers. Strong communication skills and professionalism are necessary traits since drivers often serve as the primary point of contact between the company and its customers. Drivers are also responsible for performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe and reliable truck operation.

Prospective applicants must meet several requirements, including being at least 21 years of age, possessing a valid CDL Class A license with appropriate endorsements, and having minimum commercial driving experience—six months in any industry or three months specifically in food or beverage delivery. Registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse is a mandatory federal requirement for all drivers, which helps maintain a safe and compliant transportation system nationwide. Preference is given to drivers who can operate manual transmission vehicles given certain location-specific needs. Proficiency in English is required for effective communication, understanding traffic regulations, and accurate completion of required documentation.

Working at US Foods provides drivers with an opportunity to build a stable and fulfilling career in a growing industry with a company that values integrity, reliability, and community impact. The company supports its employees through comprehensive Total Rewards programs that include health insurance, dental and vision coverage, 401K retirement plans, life insurance, paid time off, disability insurance, employee stock purchase options, and more. US Foods’ overall mission is to help customers "make it" in their respective markets, while simultaneously ensuring that its own associates, including its drivers, have the resources and support needed to "make it" professionally and personally. This delivery driver role presents a unique blend of physical activity, safety responsibility, customer service, and earning potential, making it an excellent opportunity for qualified individuals looking for a career in transportation and logistics within the foodservice industry.
