Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a subsidiary of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor serving a diverse range of local customers. They work closely with independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company has a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other professionals who collaborate to provide expert advice on operations, menu development, product selection, and strategic management, helping customers improve their business outcomes. Performance Foodservice is committed to delivering not only quality food products but also exceptional customer service that supports the growth and success of independent restaurant owners and other foodservice operators.
The company offers a safe, inclusive working environment that fosters a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect. They provide competitive pay and benefits starting at $22.50 per hour, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes day-one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. Growth opportunities abound for employees in roles that are essential to supporting America's food distribution system. With a focus on safety, compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, and professional customer interactions, Performance Foodservice aims to provide consistent and reliable delivery services.
The role is for a Non-CDL Driver responsible for operating a straight truck or van on local intrastate and interstate routes primarily during early morning hours, mostly between 4 AM and 6 AM, but start times can range as early as midnight. The schedule is Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays. This driver handles delivery and unloading of urgent and regular food orders, ensuring all deliveries are completed safely and efficiently, adhering to DOT regulations and company policies. The driver conducts thorough pre and post-trip inspections, verifies freight loading and unloading accuracy, secures freight, performs damage assessments, and maintains cleanliness of the truck and equipment. This role requires physical dexterity as it involves hand-lifting product cases, some weighing up to 90 pounds, and the use of equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move freight.
The position demands professionalism in all communications with customers, vendors, and team members, ensuring that the company maintains its high standards for customer service. The role is integral to Performance Foodservice’s mission to deliver quality food products while enabling foodservice operators to meet their business needs efficiently. This is a critical frontline role that combines elements of driving skill, customer service, safety compliance, and operational diligence. It provides a stable work environment with the potential for career growth within a respected and recognized foodservice distribution company that values diversity and equal opportunity in employment.
