Job Description
US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor in the United States, providing innovative and comprehensive solutions to the foodservice industry. The company operates a large network of warehouses and distribution centers to ensure timely delivery and excellent service to its clients. As a prominent player in the foodservice distribution sector, US Foods emphasizes safety, operational excellence, and employee development to maintain its competitive edge. The company values integrity, respect, and innovation, fostering a work environment that encourages growth and teamwork among its associates.
The Warehouse Operations Manager role at US Foods is crucial to the company’s success, leading warehouse activities to meet safety, service, and cost targets effectively. This role requires a hands-on leader who prioritizes safety to ensure all associates remain injury-free while driving operational performance and continuous improvement. The manager will oversee and develop warehouse managers and associates, coaching them to enhance productivity, adherence to policies, and alignment with company values. They will foster an engaged workforce by creating a positive culture, implementing development plans, and encouraging collaboration across departments.
In addition to leadership responsibilities, this role oversees staffing processes, including recruitment, interviewing, and discipline, to build high-performing teams. The Warehouse Operations Manager will develop and optimize production flow to increase efficiency and reduce costs, maintaining operational procedures that control inventory accuracy, verify shipments, and manage product handling. Accountability for load planning ensures compliance with weight restrictions and accommodation of special customer requests, while monitoring operational data helps identify issues and opportunities for process enhancement.
An essential part of the role is ensuring food safety standards are upheld and that the physical condition of the warehouse complies with OSHA and other regulatory requirements. In union settings, the manager assists in interpreting labor agreements, administering discipline, and resolving grievances. This position requires some travel for training and meetings and demands physical capability to perform various warehouse tasks safely.
Employment type for this position is full-time, with an annual incentive plan bonus of up to 15% of the base salary. The benefits package includes health insurance, retirement benefits, paid time off, disability coverage, employee stock purchase plans, and more. The work environment combines traditional warehouse settings with areas subject to temperature extremes, requiring adaptability and commitment to safety practices. Overall, this role is designed for a seasoned warehouse leader dedicated to operational excellence, safety, and team development within a large-scale food distribution company.
