Job Description

Highgate Hotels is a distinguished real estate investment and hospitality management company renowned for its extensive global presence. Managing assets valued over 15 billion dollars, Highgate operates a diverse portfolio comprising more than 400 hotels across North America, Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America. With over three decades of expertise, Highgate has established itself as an innovator within the hospitality industry, delivering outstanding results by leveraging market insights, advanced technology, and a dynamic approach to hotel management.

The company’s portfolio is broad, featuring bespoke lifestyle brands, legacy hotel companies, and independent resorts that offer contemporary amenities alongside traditional values of hospitality. Highgate is not only committed to maintaining high standards of operation but also dedicated to enhancing asset value through strategic planning, development, recapitalization, and disposition processes. The company’s leadership team consists of experienced hospitality professionals who provide expert guidance and strategic management to optimize property performance and guest satisfaction.

At Highgate, the blend of tradition and innovation is evident in how the company utilizes state-of-the-art revenue management tools that analyze market trends and predict consumer behavior, enabling efficient and profitable decision-making. These technologies are embedded within the company’s operational strategies, driving performance excellence in the hospitality domain.

The Night Auditor role at the Residence Inn West Des Moines, a property within the Highgate portfolio, is an integral part of the hotel’s nightly operations and financial management. This hourly position is responsible for the essential task of reconciling all hotel cashier transactions, verifying the accuracy of guest billings, and managing city ledger activity. The Night Auditor ensures that all financial data is accurately recorded and reported, creating essential reports for management review to aid in operational decision-making.

Beyond numerical accuracy, this role requires delivering excellent customer service as it involves front desk interactions like guest check-in and check-out, managing reservations, and operating the hotel switchboard. These duties require a blend of analytical skills and interpersonal communication abilities to ensure guests experience a seamless and welcoming stay.

The Night Auditor shift runs overnight from 10 PM to 6 AM every Saturday and every other Sunday, creating a quiet but crucial window of operations focused on meticulous financial auditing and guest services. This role demands someone who is detail-oriented, able to multitask efficiently, and capable of working independently during nocturnal hours while ensuring all aspects of the financial and guest services are handled proficiently.

In summary, a career at Highgate Hotels as a Night Auditor offers a unique opportunity to be part of a respected and forward-thinking hospitality conglomerate. It is a role that combines financial acumen with guest service excellence, supporting both the operational success of the property and the satisfaction of its guests.
