Job Description
The hiring company is a well-established food service provider specializing in quick-service and fast food items. They operate in a dynamic and customer-focused environment where efficiency, cleanliness, and excellent customer service are paramount. This organization is committed to serving delicious and attractive food items while maintaining high standards of presentation and hygiene. The company takes pride in offering a variety of fast food options like hamburgers, frankfurters, fried potatoes, sandwiches, and salads, prepared with care and speed to meet customer expectations. Their operational setting often involves a high-paced working atmosphere, equipped with various kitchen appliances such as grills, microwaves, and deep fryers to facilitate food preparation.
The available role is that of an entry to mid-level Food Service Worker who supports higher grade Food Service Workers in food preparation and customer service activities. This position plays a crucial part in the smooth operation of a specific location by assisting in preparing various fast food items, handling orders, serving customers, and managing cash register operations under established cash control procedures. The successful candidate will frequently engage with customers, ensuring they receive prompt and friendly service. They will also maintain the cleanliness and overall appearance of the workplace, adhere to strict uniform and name tag policies, and follow all Navy Exchange customer service standards. This role demands good communication skills, tact, and courtesy, especially when suggesting substitutes or informing customers of specials.
Additionally, this role requires physical stamina as employees will frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 45 pounds. The work involves constant standing and walking, often in environments that can be warm and noisy. Safety is a priority, given the exposure to kitchen hazards such as minor cuts, bruises, burns, and the risk of slipping on wet floors. The position also insists on responsibility and reliability since, in the absence of higher grade Food Service Workers, the individual will assume operational control of the location.
To qualify for this role, candidates must have a valid driver's license or a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and possess the knowledge to safely operate a motor vehicle. They must be able to obtain and maintain a Food Certificate, which ensures compliance with health and safety standards in food handling. Experience requirements include at least one year of food preparation and serving duties, with an option to substitute educational qualifications such as a high school diploma or GED for some of the experience. Educational achievements can reduce the required experience by three months for each year of high school completed, with a maximum substitution limitation.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to advance in the food service industry, gaining hands-on experience in food preparation, customer service, and location management. Candidates will develop culinary skills, operational knowledge, and interpersonal capabilities essential for career growth in various hospitality and food retail environments.
