Job Description
The Seattle Times is a renowned newspaper company serving the Greater Seattle Area with a rich history of delivering quality news to its subscribers every day of the year. For those looking to earn extra income and work independently, The Seattle Times currently offers an excellent opportunity for reliable and dedicated independent contractors to manage newspaper delivery routes. This position is part-time and contractual, allowing individuals the flexibility to be their own boss without the constraints of micro-management. With potential gross revenue ranging from $1,000 to $1,500 per month plus tips, contractors have the ability to increase their earnings by providing timely and dependable delivery service to customers. This is not just a job but a business opportunity that encourages those with a strong work ethic and customer service mindset to thrive.
As an independent contractor delivering newspapers for The Seattle Times, you will be responsible for ensuring that customers receive their newspapers 365 days a year, regardless of weather conditions such as rain, sleet, or snow. Deliveries are typically expected during the early morning hours between 2:30 AM and 5:30 AM, allowing subscribers to have their daily news conveniently on time. In addition to the direct deliveries, contractors may arrange for subcontractors to perform their deliveries during periods of absence, provided contractual obligations are met. The role requires a valid driver's license and automobile insurance if deliveries are conducted via a motor route. When delivering, having a cell phone is advantageous for navigation in low-visibility early morning hours.
The Seattle Times values punctuality and commitment, compensating its contractors twice a month based on the deliveries completed. Thus, contractors who are proactive in managing their routes and customer relationships can maximize their monthly income. This role provides the freedom and independence of managing one’s schedule while meeting customer expectations and delivering an essential community service. Ideal candidates are those with reliable transportation, strong time-management skills, and a commitment to excellent customer service who wish to work part-time and independently in a beneficial role with predictable earnings and flexible hours. Paid training is also provided to ensure contractors are well prepared to start their routes confidently and efficiently.
