The Prepared Foods Team Member is responsible for ensuring all prepared foods meet Whole Foods Market’s rigorous quality and safety guidelines. Duties include assisting with food production across various prepared foods venues, maintaining cleanliness and organization in walk-ins and freezers, labeling and rotating products properly, and documenting waste and spoilage accurately. The role demands a strong adherence to health and sanitation policies, safe work practices, and established merchandising standards.
Working as a Team Leader within this role entails spending considerable time on the floor engaging with customers and stepping in to support other team members when needed. Team members must show strong communication skills, a passion for natural foods, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining Whole Foods Market’s core values.
This is an hourly position with a competitive wage range of $16.00 to $25.40, depending on experience. New team members who successfully complete their first 90 days and remain actively employed in an eligible role may be considered for a base rate increase. Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
- hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
- work requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- exposure to temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
- may require use of ladders

Job Duties
- Assists with production for all prepared foods venues
- ensures all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
- ensures product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
- documents waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
- ensures product production is performed using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
- helps customers understand the difference between Whole Foods Market products and products at conventional stores
- ensures that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and well-organized
