Job Description

This position is located within the Food and Beverage Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department in the Navy Region Southwest. The MWR Department is dedicated to providing quality recreational and support services to members of the Navy and their families, enhancing morale and welfare through diverse programs and activities. The Food and Beverage Division specifically focuses on delivering exceptional dining experiences, through maintaining high standards in food service, preparation, and presentation. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in food and beverage service preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Must comply with all Navy Region Southwest policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Skill to serve beverages and meals in the proper manner and sequence
  • Knowledge of proper food handling techniques such as the correct side to serve from and the correct side to remove from
  • Knowledge of the composition of all food items on the menu, whether American or foreign
  • Knowledge of the available beverages and wines and which wines complement specific meals and their proper serving temperatures
  • Skill in proper table setting techniques
  • Knowledge of simple math calculations in order to tabulate checks
  • Ability to recognize intoxicated patrons when serving alcohol

  • Serve beverages and meals in the proper manner and sequence
