Job Description
The University of North Florida (UNF) is a vibrant, Carnegie Community Engaged Institution dedicated to fostering collaboration with community partners locally and globally. We are committed to offering an inclusive and welcoming environment where diversity in culture, background, and life experience is valued and respected. This commitment extends across all facets of the university experience including education, employment, and social activities. We strive to create opportunities that allow students, staff, and faculty to thrive in a supportive environment free from discrimination or harassment of any kind. The university has established itself as a leader not just in academic excellence but also in community engagement, contributing positively to public good and shaping educated, responsible citizens for the future.
We are currently seeking an energetic and professional MOCA Events Crew member for our MOCA-OPS department. This position is hourly paid at $20.00 and entails ensuring the proper setup and seamless operation of events hosted at the university. As a key representative of MOCA Events, the crew member will uphold high standards of appearance, hospitality, and customer satisfaction throughout each event. Responsibilities include physical setup, continuous oversight during the event, assisting with staffing and guest needs, and possibly standing in for the MOCA Venue Coordinator when needed. Additionally, this role may involve supporting marketing initiatives to promote MOCA Events to nearby businesses.
The MOCA Events Crew member must be adept at multitasking in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude and excellent communication skills. Critical to success in this role is the ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team. Candidates should demonstrate integrity, kindness, and a strong commitment to customer service. This position requires flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and the potential for off-site work. Physical requirements include sustained periods of standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Applicants must not be current students of the University of North Florida for this position type. The role also requires reliable transportation and the ability to quickly adapt and problem-solve during events. A background check is mandatory, and in accordance with university policy, a credit check may also be required. Preference will be given to candidates who have AV tech knowledge, including familiarity with sound and video equipment, although this is not a strict requirement.
This role is vital to the success of MOCA Events, supporting a broad range of functions from setup and logistics to customer engagement and event promotion. If you are motivated by maintaining professional event standards and enjoy dynamic, hands-on work, this position offers a meaningful opportunity to be part of UNF's community engagement mission while developing valuable skills in event operations and customer service.
