The Mixologist role at Magnolia Hotel Houston plays an essential part within the Food & Beverage team, contributing significantly to the overall guest experience. This full-time position requires a passionate, energetic, and guest-focused professional who possesses a deep knowledge of spirits, wines, beers, and cocktail preparation. The Mixologist is tasked with crafting high-quality alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages that adhere to the hotel's elevated standards of quality and presentation. Responsibilities include maintaining an organized, clean, and fully stocked bar area; preparing garnishes and mixers with precision; ensuring accurate pouring and recipe consistency; and processing transactions efficiently using the POS system. Additionally, the Mixologist functions as a crucial liaison among servers, kitchen staff, leadership, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and optimal guest satisfaction. Adherence to all safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations is mandatory, alongside a commitment to creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere.

  • ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail
  • willingness to interact with guests in a friendly, welcoming, and professional manner throughout the shift
  • ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members, and leadership
  • willingness to assist in all areas of the food & beverage department as needed

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and Magnolia Hotel Houston standards
  • create memorable guest experiences through personalized service and beverage recommendations
  • maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar area throughout the shift
  • prepare garnishes, fresh juices, mixers, and bar ingredients in accordance with departmental standards
  • ensure accurate pouring and recipe consistency using proper measuring techniques
  • operate the POS system and accurately process guest transactions, cash handling, and room charges
  • monitor product levels and notify leadership of any shortages or out-of-stock items
  • maintain cleanliness of work areas, glassware, bar equipment, and service stations in accordance with health and sanitation standards
  • assist with opening and closing duties, including restocking inventory, cleaning equipment, and preparing the outlet for the next shift
  • communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, leadership, and other hotel departments to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction
  • verify guest identification and follow all alcohol service laws and responsible beverage service practices
  • anticipate guest needs and resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally
  • maintain knowledge of cocktail recipes, spirits, wines, beers, and current beverage trends
  • deliver exceptional hospitality by greeting and acknowledging guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • maintain professional appearance and grooming standards in accordance with hotel policy
