Job Qualifications
- Previous bartending or mixology experience in a restaurant, lounge, hotel, or hospitality environment preferred
- Knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wines, beers, and beverage presentation standards preferred
- Experience with computerized point-of-sale systems and cash handling procedures
- Ability to follow Hotel food and beverage policies regarding sanitation, alcohol service, portion control, serving, storing, food handling, and side work
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail
- Willingness to interact with guests in a friendly, welcoming, and professional manner throughout the shift
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members, and leadership
- Willingness to assist in all areas of the Food & Beverage department as needed
- Physical ability to perform the functions of the position
- TABC certification required or ability to obtain within required timeframe
- Food Handler Certification required or ability to obtain within required timeframe
Job Duties
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and Magnolia Hotel Houston standards
- Create memorable guest experiences through personalized service and beverage recommendations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar area throughout the shift
- Prepare garnishes, fresh juices, mixers, and bar ingredients in accordance with departmental standards
- Ensure accurate pouring and recipe consistency using proper measuring techniques
- Operate the POS system and accurately process guest transactions, cash handling, and room charges
- Monitor product levels and notify leadership of any shortages or out-of-stock items
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, glassware, bar equipment, and service stations in accordance with health and sanitation standards
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including restocking inventory, cleaning equipment, and preparing the outlet for the next shift
- Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, leadership, and other hotel departments to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction
- Verify guest identification and follow all alcohol service laws and responsible beverage service practices
- Anticipate guest needs and resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally
- Maintain knowledge of cocktail recipes, spirits, wines, beers, and current beverage trends
- Deliver exceptional hospitality by greeting and acknowledging guests in a friendly and professional manner
- Maintain professional appearance and grooming standards in accordance with hotel policy
- Follow all hotel safety, sanitation, and departmental policies and procedures
- Support team members and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment
- Thank guests with genuine appreciation and create memorable experiences
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
